The American University awards Majda Al Roumi

The famous Lebanese artist Majda Al Roumi was recently awarded an honorary doctoral degree by the American University in Beirut.


According to the London daily Elaph, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Al Sanyourah, and Ministers Tareq Mitri and Ziad Baroud attended the ceremony.


Majda was born in Soor Lebanon in 1956 and she was exposed to many great Lebanese artists like Filmone Wahbe, Melhim Barakat and Isam Raji when she was young.


 When Majda was 17-years old she participated in the music talent show “Art Studio” and won first prize, launching her music career. She received a bachelors degree in 1975 and the following year she starred in Yousif Shaheen’s film “Awdat Al Ibn Al Dal” (The Return Of The Lost Son).


Majda thanked her family that has stood by her side throughout her music and art career.
