Bored of Abu Dhabi desert? Slower 'Star Wars' box office sales

Thursday was a slower day for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' at the international box office, ringing in 2016 with an added USD 15.1 million from offshore territories.

That was a roughly 59 percent drop from Wednesday collection, but business will pick up again today overseas where the cume is USD 679.2M. That should set the Disney sci-fi epic's trajectory for the USD 700M mark at some point today.

Domestically, Star Wars dropped about 19 percent from Wednesday-Thursday. The global collection is USD 1,331.2M, as reported by Deadline.

The Force Awakens is currently the No. 8 film of all time at the worldwide box office having overtaken Frozen with Wednesday's grosses.
