ALBAWABA - Since the release of the "Shab Al Ard" (The People of the Land) trailer, which is being broadcast during Ramadan season, Israelis have been angered by the series that tells the suffering of the people in Gaza during the latest 2-year war.
Israeli military spokesperson Captain Ella attacked in a video posted on her social media accounts Ramadan's series "Shab Al Ard", accusing it of brainwashing people's minds and falsification of facts.
Ella Waweya attacked the Egyptian TV series after seven episodes aired on Egyptian and Arab channels and platforms.
In the video, she said, "Art is a message when it's clean, but otherwise it's brainwashing and a distortion of the truth."
She continued, saying that the series "The Land Owners" is not a drama but a blatant distortion of history, adding that it is "a deliberate misrepresentation and a cheap imitation of the truth. The true owners of the land are those who defended their land, their children, and their homes. So be honest and tell the whole truth," she said.
She added, "Before we talk about incitement, let's go back to the beginning, to the October 7th massacre. Let's go back to the killing, the burning, and the kidnapping. Then we can ask a simple question: Who started it? Who committed the aggression?"
For his part, Peter Mimi, the director of the series "Sahab El Ard", posted a picture on his Facebook account in response to Ella's statements. The picture showed one of the actresses in the series who looks similar to the Israeli army's spokesperson, with the caption: "What falsification of facts? The videos are there. Anyway, I went to great lengths to find an actress who looked like you, and victory to all the oppressed."
In the series, Menna Shalaby portrays Salma Shawky. She is an Egyptian doctor who works in the Gaza Strip's urgent care unit and is part of an Egyptian relief convoy.
The actor Eyad Nassar plays a Palestinian man who is going through a tough existential crisis. He is motivated by the need to survive amid the horrors of war. The events take place in the background of Israel's attacks on Gaza in October 2023.
