Egyptian Economic Misdemeanors Court issued an enforceable ruling of 3 years of imprisonment against Egyptian belly dancer Sama El-Masri. It also asked her to pay a fine of 300,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately $20,000), in addition to putting her under probation for 3 years, at the end of her basic detention period.
Sama was issued the ruling for 'incitement to debauch' throughout publishing footage on social media that is against public modesty and publicly displaying shameful acts.
The court also accused El-Masri of temptation to prostitution and drawing attention to it, and assault of family principles and values in Egyptian society, and the establishment, management and use of sites and accounts on the internet to commit the aforementioned felonies.
The Egyptian Attorney General, Hamada Al-Sawy, had previously ordered an urgent investigation with Sama El-Masri regarding the previous accusations, after submitting several reports against her, calling for the speedy investigation, similar to the Egyptian student Haneen Hosam.
Sama El-Masri had commented after the arrest that she was hoping to lead a quiet life free of problems and enmities, pointing out that she would not go to war again even if she was attacked.
