The new Egyptian film Bahib Al Cinema (I Like Cinema) tells the story of a kid who likes films, but faces the oppression a fanatical father who rejects all forms of art.
“The film belongs to the social genre and goes back to the 1960s, in particular to 1966-1967. It depicts the circumstances during that period through the life of a kid who likes freedom and struggles in order to enjoy it, contrary to other members of his middle-class family. These members have different views regarding their rights in life,” the film's technical producer, Afaf Fawzi, told the Egyptian daily Al Ahram.
The film was directed by Osama Fawzi, scripted by Hani Fawzi, shot by Tarq Al Tilmisani and costars Laila Ulwi, Mahmoud Hemeidah, and Aida Abdel Aziz. Also appearing are the new stars Minnah Shalabi and Riyad Jawhar, as well as child prodigies Yousef Othman, 5, and Jasmine Ibrahim, 10.
The director is currently editing the film and will leave for Romania to print a film version in order to screen it this winter - Albawaba.com
