ALBAWABA - Firewalk Studios' Concord has officially marked 60 concurrent players on Steam breaking records but for all the wrong reasons knowing that this was Sony's answer to games like Blizzard's Overwatch and Marvel Rivals.
This doesn't come as a surprise, since Concord didn't add anything new to the hero-shooter genre except promising more character development cinematics which isn't exactly what competitive gamers look out for when it comes to playing these kinds of games.
Concord drops down to 60 concurrent players
According to a website named SteamDB, Concord marked 60 concurrent players on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, marking a new all-time low compared to its 697 all-time peak in the past six days.
By the time of writing this article, it's sitting on 86 concurrent players on Steam.
Launching it with a $39.99 price tag didn't help either as other competitors like Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals are both arguably better and more fluid games but free-to-play with in-game purchases like cosmetics and monthly battle pass subscriptions to keep them alive and kicking.
According to some players who experienced the game, the "uninspired and bland" cast of characters didn't help the game either despite having top-notch visuals when it came to their models and animations.
Moreover, many gamers slammed the game for appearing to be "too woke" by adding pronouns to its characters which they deemed "unnecessary." Some also called them "unattractive."
