Jordanian singer Diana Karazon weighed in with her thoughts on the alleged rape of a French woman by Emirati singer Saoud Abou Sultan.
Although Sultan appealed against the court's decision, he's been sentenced to three years in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court.
Karazon, who's been good friends with Sultan since their first meeting as contestants on the singing competition "Super Star," told Al Jadeed TV that she was "shocked and upset" to hear about the rape incident.
"I didn't expect to hear such news. I was very upset and I immediately got in touch with him. I do believe in his good nature and morals as I've known him for a very long time now," Karazon said.
Just like Sultan, the Jordanian starlet has no doubt in her mind that he's innocent.
"We've had thirteen years of friendship and everyone knows him for the well-behaved and decent man he is."
Karazon offered her friend supportive words to aid him during this rough patch in his life.
"Saoud, your country and the entire world know what kind of man you are... we're standing by you whatever happens. You're a dear friend and brother; have faith in God for he's the only one who will stand by you."
Meanwhile, Sultan's lawer Ali Musbah Dahi told the TV network that his client's court case is still ongoing, adding that it's not "how they make it seem like in the media."
Dahi clarified that the French woman is in fact of Algerian roots but holds a French passport, and has had consensual sex with his client, even though they only met on that doomed day.
The celebrity lawyer added that each Dubai court has a different perspective on Sultan's case, which is why a final decision regarding his sentence is yet to be made.
