Egyptian police, with the help of trained police dogs, were able to confiscate a large quantity of drugs, including marijuana and cocaine that was labeled “Nancy Ajram.”

Labeling shipments of illegal drugs after famous singers has become a common practice amongst drug traffickers in the region.

Police caught two major drug dealers red-handed with a large quantity of “Nancy Ajram” drugs in Alexandria. The dealers had buried the drugs in the ground, and investigators discovered the shipment from Lebanon, that was eventually to be delivered in Egypt.

Recently, well renowned Egyptian author, Osama Anwar Okasha refused to acknowledge Nancy among the list of names chosen by Newsweek as the most influential figures of the Arab world.

“Choosing someone like Nancy as a top influential figure is an insult to all Arabs,” claimed Okasha. There must be a more accurate method of determining people’s influence based on their achievements and talent, he added.

Okasha declined his invitation to the ceremony held by Newsweek, stressing that he does not want to be considered on the same level as Nancy.

Nancy is currently recording songs for her upcoming album, scheduled for release at the beginning of the summer, and featuring twelve songs in the Egyptian, Lebanese, and Gulf dialects.

The singer is scheduled to hold two concerts in Tunisia in June, and will also film a new commercial for Coca Cola Soft Drink, Nancy’s second for the company.
