ELISABETH SHUE RECEIVED an Academy Award nomination for her stirring portrayal of a call girl who cares for a suicidal alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas. Her performance also garnered Best Actress awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics, the National Society of Film Critics, the Dallas Film Critics, and the South Florida Film Critics, as well as an Independent Spirit Award. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actor's Guild Award.  

Born in Wilmington, DE. and raised in South Orange, NJ, Elisabeth enrolled at Wellesley and studied government to pursue a career as an attorney. A high school friend who had appeared in some commercials suggested Shue audition as a way to help defray college expenses. Soon thereafter, she landed a series of commercials, and began to study acting at the Showcase Theatre in NYC.  

Spotted by an ABC talent scout, Elisabeth was cast with Craig T. Nelson in Call to Glory She made her motion picture debut in the role of Ralph Macchio's girlfriend in The Karate Kid followed by starring roles in Adventures in Babysitting and Cocktail.  

Over the course of her career, Elisabeth has chosen widely divergent roles that have allowed her to grow as an actress. Her credits include The Marrying Man, Heart and Souls, Soapdish, The Underneath, The Trigger Effect and most recently, The Saint opposite Val Kilmer and the upcoming Molly. She made her Broadway debut in Some Americans Abroad at Lincoln Center. She also appeared in Birth and After Birth by Tina Howe, which led to her participation in the development of the theatre group, The Cooperative.  

Elisabeth was also part of the ensemble cast in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry, alongside Demi Moore, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Judy Davis and Robin Williams.
