He found fame as one fifth of the world's biggest boy bands but One Direction star Zayn Malik is making a foray into fashion - and it's all thanks to his supermodel girlfriend.
The 23-year-old pop star is teaming up with Donatella Versace to curate the Zayn X Versus capsule collection of men’s and women’s clothing after he and the designer got to know each other through Gigi.
Despite admitting that she wasn't a fan of One Direction, 61-year-old Donatella, who is vice president and chief designer of the label, is certainly a fan of Zayn.
Speaking to the New York Times about snapping up the star, she said: 'I met him again when he started to date Gigi, who I work with all the time. And he impressed me very much.'
Donatella hailed the star 'so mature and thoughtful' and said that he treated his model girlfriend like 'such a gentleman.'
'They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind. He’s smart to do it with me.'
The R&B star and teen heartthrob, who is an avid fan of the Italian brand, will also star in the Versus advertising campaigns.
Zayn has long been a fan of the brand, wearing it to the MET Gala earlier this year alongside his girlfriend.
Then he and Gigi put on an extremely affectionate display as they headed to watch the model's sister Bella walk in the London Fashion Week Versus show last month.
The singer, 23, and his model girlfriend, 21, only had eyes for each other as they arrived hand-in-hand at the catwalk event in an impeccably stylish fashion.
