A Lebanese judge has lessened the sentence for Algerian singer Fula, who was charged with writing a check for 700 US dollars to her hairdresser without having a balance. Fula’s original sentence was to serve a three month jail term and had to pay a fine of one million Lebanese Liras.
According to the Al Rai Al Aam daily, the new sentence for fula is a fine of 200 thousand Lebanese Liras. The sentence was lessened due to the fact that the hairdresser had dropped charges against the singer.
Fula has admitted to the crime of writing a check without having a balance she was charged with in Beirut. Fula’s hairdresser, Joe Kahwaji, filed the lawsuit after she had written him a bad check for 700 US dollars. This instance marks the second time the singer is faced with such charges and despite the dropping of charges the Lebanese court had made Fula pay a fine.
Fula had requested of Joe when she gave him the check not to cash it until she returned from Paris, but the he ignored her request and when he tried to cash the check it bounced. Fula’s lawyer demanded that the singer’s innocence be announced publicly especially since Joe dropped all charges.
After a series of disputes between Fula and the Music Production Company Rotana, both sides had finally made amends and everything returned to normal between them. The problems were solved after a series of phone calls by both sides and finding common grounds to make each side happy.
Fula revealed that despite the problems that arouse between her and Rotana, she cannot forget the fact that the company was behind her ongoing success and she has reached her fans through them.
