ALBAWABA - Pakistan confirmed carrying out airstrikes on Afghanistan, targeting locations of Pakistani militants, which Islamabad blames for recent attacks inside the country, AP reported on Sunday.
Pakistan did not specify which areas the strikes were carried out in or provide any other details. However, Afghan reports said that the attacks hit the Ghani Khelo and Garda Samia districts inside Afghanistan, killing at least 17 civilians.
In addition, Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid revealed in a post on X that a strike was carried out by Pakistan, targeting civilians in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. The Afghan official said that the attack led to the killing and injuring of dozens of people, including women and children.
In addition, Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense said in a statement, "Continuing the previous aggressions, the Pakistani military regime has once again launched airstrikes on several civilian areas in the provinces of Nangarhar and Paktika, targeting (a religious school and a number of civilian homes), resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of innocent civilians, including women and children."
It added, "The Ministry of National Defense strongly condemns this flagrant violation of Afghanistan's sovereignty and this crime in the strongest terms, and considers it a clear breach of international laws and principles of good neighborliness and Islamic values..."
