George Wassouf has come under fire for publicly praising the Syrian army.
In a video that was posted at the beginning of this month (VIDEO EMBEDDED), the Syrian singer is seen taking photos with a member of the army before telling him “May Allah protect you!”
However, tabloid! is unable to verify the authenticity of the video as it is unclear whether this was posted prior to or after clashes in the country had started.
Nevertheless, fans have expressed their disappointment in Wassouf, who is still recovering after suffering a stroke last year.
NicolaSix6 posted on Twitter: “And now I hate George Wassouf. Ugh! ‘May God Bless the Syrian Army’. Bad bad bad!!” Most posted comments not appropriate for print compare him to Syrian president Bashar El Assad.
In other news, it is rumoured Wassouf was involved in a car crash in Homs after being caught in fighting. However, sources are reporting he is unharmed.
