Prominent Syrian singer George Wassouf is currently at the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Al Shami Hospital in Damascus after encountering a brain stroke and falling into a coma.
The stroke hit the singer early Wednesday morning and was immediately taken to hospital accompanied by his son George Junior. The singer’s two remaining sons are due to arrive in Syria today, Thursday October 19, to be by the side of their father.
The news of the stroke and coma was at first considered a false rumor similar to many that had circulated about the singer in the past period, but the station ‘Al Jadeed’ confirmed the news and reported that the singer’s condition is very critical and unstable.
A medical team from Lebanon is to travel to Syria to treat the singer and supervise his condition closely.
