Gigi Hadid broke down in tears during an interview with Variety for their Power Of Women issue when talking about fame.
The 23-year-old supermodel told the publication: 'It makes me emotional because at times, fame makes you feel out of control of your life. I think it’s tough. Obviously, people judge you.'
But one person who has helped her to navigate her way through her life and various issues she has faced is her BFF singer Taylor Swift, 29.
Discussing their friendship in an accompanying video, Gigi said: 'An amazing thing about my friendship with Taylor has been that she is a songwriter that I’ve connected to through my childhood into my adult life and us becoming friends has given me an insight into the mind that creates those lyrics.'
'But it never gets old, because I think seeing the woman being able to own what she’s been through; stand up, write songs about it, be honest, put her heart out there and through that still be connect to people, that is amazing and it’s empowering.'
Gigi and Taylor have been great friends since the summer of 2015 and Gigi starred in Taylor’s iconic Bad Blood music video, along with the rest of her squad.
In July 2018, Gigi took to social media to express how much she enjoyed seeing Taylor perform in concert in Philadelphia.
She wrote: 'If I could find the words, I would explain how happy it makes me to watch you perform @taylorswift.
'I'm so proud to experience this celebration of clarity & strength with you. WHAT A SHOW. You did it again. Love you to the moon.'
During her Variety interview, Gigi also spoke about how her immigrant parents, Mohamed and Yolanda, inspired her to take a stand on immigration.
She said: 'I saw two people that came from nothing and were given the opportunity to come to this country and be great.
'This country was built off immigrants. It’s great because of immigrants.'
