She reportedly turned down Zayn Malik's marriage proposal before Christmas over fears he was moving 'too fast'.

But supermodel Gigi Hadid, 21, has sparked fresh speculation that she's set to wed her British singer beau after sporting a band on her wedding finger.

The Victoria's Secret Angel was seen out and about in New York on Monday wearing the simple accessory.

She rushed into a building dressed casually but the band was clear to see - and left fans wondering why she had chosen that finger to wear the ring.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for both parties for comment.

Her appearance comes just weeks after reports suggested she 'didn't feel ready' when Zayn, 23, asked her to marry him.

It's been just one year since the former One Direction hunk called off his two-year engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, 23.

A source close to the pair reportedly told Life & Style magazine: 'She’s only 21 and doesn’t feel ready to tie the knot, so she turned him down.'

Implicating Gigi's mother Yolanda Hadid, the source continued: 'She's seen her mom go through two messy divorces, so Gigi wants to make 100 per cent sure Zayn's the one before she makes a lifetime commitment.'

Representatives for Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Gigi's father is Mohammed Hadid, Yolanda's first husband with whom she has children Bella and Anwar, but the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star's second marriage to David Foster similarly ended in 2011.

At the close of 2016, Gigi and Zayn - who have been together since last November - seem to be stronger than ever.

They split very briefly in June this year when he was suffering a bought of 'the worst anxiety of [his] life' which led him to cancel multiple public appearances.

Of their temporary separation, a source told Us Weekly: 'They broke up and got back together almost right away.

'Right now, it’s back on, but it could be off again in an hour. They are young and keep going back and forth. Things are testy between them.'

It's well-documented that Zayn's love life is a passionate one, as well as an unpredictable one.

In October this year, it was finally confirmed that the musician had unexpectedly called off his engagement to long-term partner Perrie over the phone, last August.

In a passage from the 2016 Little Mix autobiography Our World, she writes: 'It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.'

She confessed that the sudden separation had left her homeless and panicking about how she could look after her pet cats and dogs, who could not move to a rented apartment.

It was just weeks before the soon-to-be-weds were set to move into their £3million dream home.

Perrie explained: 'After I split with my partner, out of the blue, I had nowhere to go, which was incredibly stressful. For a while I had no idea what to do.'

She continued: 'At the time we were promoting Black Magic, and while I was in America, things really hit me and I panicked. I realised I was homeless. I was crying every day, dreading coming back.'

He once disclosed the details of his intimate, romantic proposal to Perrie during a One Direction fan Q&A.

According to Sugarscape, he said: 'We were watching a film in the back garden and her mum was there, my mum was there...

'My two best mates were there which was quite sick... And that's it, and she said yeah which is quite sick!"
