ALBAWABA - Management of Gouna Film Festival has decided to postpone the sixth edition of the ceremony scheduled to take place from October 13 to 20, due to the devastating situation in Palestine.

In a statement released by the Egyptian festival's producers, they stated that the new date for the 6th edition will be from October 27 to November 2, pointing out that the festival's main slogan (Cinema for Humanity) will be reflected in its activities.
The statement reads: “In light of the unrest and unfortunate events that the region has witnessed recently, the administration of El Gouna Film Festival has decided to postpone the sixth session of the festival to be held from October 27 to November 2, 2023.”
They added: "In the midst of these unfortunate events, the importance of humanity and compassion between peoples is evident, and the festival's main slogan (Cinema for Humanity) will be reflected in the festival's activities."
The festival's management continued: "We strongly believe in the ability of cinema to unite all sects and groups, and although we are aware of the difficulty of the current situation, we considered it our duty to commit to holding the festival in its sixth session in 2023."
The statement concluded with: “We greatly appreciate your understanding of the urgent changes imposed on us by the current circumstances and we look forward to welcoming you soon to the sixth edition of El Gouna Film Festival. Let us all give peace a chance to prevail!”
Riham Hagag responds to postponing the 6th edition of El Gouna Film Festival
Egyptian actress Riham Hagag has responded to postponing the 6th edition of El Gouna Film Festival in a post she left on her official Facebook page.
Hagag posted the decision of postponement and commented with: "A respectable, patriotic and humanitarian decision by El Gouna Festival management to postpone the festival in light of what is happening."
