In their first meeting on the silver screen, Egyptian stars Hanan Turk and Hisham Abdel Hamid are paired up in a social comedy in which Hanan plays a schoolgirl who falls in love with her teacher.
The movie Mudarres Al Banat (Girls’ Teacher), written by Mustafa Mharram, satirically tackles the phenomenon of private teaching that is common in Egypt.
The film criticizes the way some tutors take advantage of their students, especially girls.
But Hisham is the good guy, who wants to see the world a better place, and education serving its original purposes, despite the damage that private teachers have caused in the country.
Naturally, Hisham will have to stand up to conspiracies plotted against him by the “parasites.”
Magdi Ahmad, the director of the movie, told the London-based daily Asharq Al Awsat that he expected the film to trigger contradictory reactions, since it tackles the issue of tutoring with unprecedented courage.
The movie costars Yasmin Abdel Aziz, sisters Hala and Maya Shiha, and Norhan. Shooting will begin in October – Albawaba.com
