Hayao Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli's iconic animation is back!
Studio Ghibli movies are known for their iconic character and background designs where every frame looks like a stunning piece of art.
The Boy and the Heron is no different but it seems to be taking a dark fantasy tone with elements from previous Ghibli movies including Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and more.
You can't have a Hayao Miyazaki movie without the legendary music composer, Joe Hisashi who has composed music for multiple Ghibli movies including ٍSpirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and the upcoming movie, The Boy and the Heron.
The movie tells the story of a boy named Mahito, longing for his mother as he enters a magical world of the living and dead with a talking grey heron.
Studio Ghibli fans took to YouTube's comments section to express their excitement for the movie:
"Getting Grave of the Fireflies mixed with Spirited Away and Howl vibes. The animation looks stunning. I’m glad Ghibli keeps 2D animated films going as an art form."
"I've never felt such a deep mixture of wonder, excitement, and dread from a trailer before."
"It feels like a huge mixture of all Hayao’s movies like it feels like a mixture of Spirited Away, The Wind Rises, and Howl’s Moving Castle."
