Egyptian singer Hisham Abbas has filed a slander suit against a newspaper demanding compensation of two million dollars, according to Akhbar Annujoom magazine.

Abbas filed the case for what the newspaper published about his alleged involvement and interrogation in a case of bribery and forgery of special documents at the Radio and TV Union.

The newspaper alleged that the singer was set free for a bail of 5,000 pounds.

But the singer denied the report as baseless, and said that he had no relation with the case, in which a number of employees at union were involved.

He claimed that these employees formed a gang to forge the documents used in accrediting new singers, and that he had been accredited a long time ago.

He added that he had not been called in for questioning, and that his name was not mentioned in the case at all.

Abbas refused all attempts to settle outside the courts with the newspaper, and confirmed that his basic objective was to reveal the misleading information on which some newspapers rely - Albawaba.com
