Hoda Shaarawi was found killed inside her house in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Thursday, when her grandchild entered the house and saw the Syrian actress lying in her bed with blood covering her.
The main suspect was her maid, who was later on Thursday arrested by Syrian government forces. Syrian actress Hoda Shaarawi was best known for her role as "Um Zaki" in "Bab Al Hara" series. She was killed at 87.

The family denied that the accused suffered from any mental illness, asserting that she was treated as a member of the family and had undergone all necessary medical examinations before the incident. They maintained that she committed the crime and later attempted to set the house on fire.
Al-Hariri indicated that the maid's trial would be held in Syria and that she would not be deported to her home country of Uganda. He expressed the family's confidence in the Syrian judiciary to deliver justice and restore their rights.
