After signing an agreement to receive 20,000 Egyptian Pounds (approx. $4,765), the son of the late Egyptian comedian, Ismael Yasin, gave the nod to pass on the rights to that name to a newly revived theater. His acceptance came after initially declining the offer, however, after the refurbishment of the theater to a”one- of-a kind” in Alexandria, he went ahead with the agreement.

The move to revive the theatre’s once glittering past is part of an overall project implemented by the Egyptian business man, Abdel Mene’m Gaber

The project, which cost 80 million Egyptian Pounds (approx. $20m), involves a complete entertainment plaza, which includes venues such as this new theatre, as well as a banquet hall, billiards room, a video arcade room, a night club as will three cinema theatres equipped with state–of-the-art audio and video systems.

On another note, the management of the Suez International Comedy Film Festival, to be held between October 30 and November 4 of this year, have decided to honor the late artist Ismael Yasin at the opening ceremony. —Albawaba.com
