Three months following the loss of his elder son, Saudi artist Jaafar Al Ghareeb restored his activity to embark on one of his most important artwork, the series Thanboh A’la Thanboh (He is Responsible For His Action) which he scripted, produced and starred.
This series marks the second attempt for Ghareeb in scriptwriting and his debut in drama production, which he described to the London based Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat as surrounded with dangers. Yet, Ghareeb told the paper, that he faces such situations with strong determination.
Costarring along with Ghareeb in the 13-episode series directed by Zaki Al Qasem is a number of Saudi actors including Ali Al Sabe', Samir Al Naser, Said Al Quraish, Ibrahim Al Hasawi, Mahfouz Al Mansaf, Suleiman Al Zabeel, Muataz Al Abdulla and a number of actresses from Bahrain, Oman and Syria.
The series is due for editing soon before it will be handed to the TV for airing during next month.
Ghareeb tried to blend in the series, which he scripted, real concerns and fantasies with symbolic dimensions. Meanwhile he managed to exploit two key elements: the first was the comedy to get out of the story’s seriousness and the second was the attempt to come as closer as possible to the status quo.
The series tells the story of the star who owns a foodstuff factory and ill-treats his nephew who works in the factory. He continues like that until he discovers that his nephew inherits millions, so he changes his way of treatment and accepts him as a husband for his daughter in addition to hosting him at his house.
Later the uncle discovers that all of this is nothing but fantasy. He even faces more troubles that lead him to the closure of his factory and bankruptcy -- Albawaba.com
