Fallen Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi is carrying a baby boy, local media reported Saturday, while police say a convicted bank robber is the father, though he denies raping her.
Trevi, who is seven months pregnant, was treated Friday at a hospital in Brasilia for uncontrolled bleeding.
Jailed since January, Trevi is seeking refugee status in Brazil while fighting extradition to Mexico, where she is wanted on charges of corruption of minors and statutory rape.
The question of how she got pregnant has captivated audiences in both countries. Trevi has said she was raped in prison, but authorities believe she was artificially inseminated.
Earlier this week, convicted bank robber Marcelo Borelli -- a prime paternity suspect -- admitted to police he provided his sperm to Trevi in a glass of milk carried by another prisoner for her to inseminate herself. Borelli, however, denied raping Trevi.
Long an idol to teens, Trevi regularly topped the charts in the early 1990s with songs dedicated to drugs and sex, and made headlines after posing naked for a string of sexy calendars.
