Internationally acclaimed Jordanian director Muhi El Din Qandoor is poised to start filming scenes for his new film “Mughamarat Al Facebook” (Adventures of Facebook). The film will star a mix of actors from at home and abroad - with Londoners, Dutch, Egyptians, Lebanonese and Jordanian appearing.
The filming takes place around the Hashemite Kindom and focuses on a Jordanian family that marries off its daughter to a man living abroad. The film tackles the changes afflicting a society spoilt for choice with the increasing number of communication options.
The Facebook-meets-Jordan movie stars a good bunch of names including the likes of Egyptian actor Mohammad Kareem, Lebanese actress Lamita Franjieh, Jordanian actor Mohammad Al Abadi, Dutch actor Salazara, British actor Edward and a number of national big names.
Qandoor describes his film vision as dealing with the tensions visiting today's society that hosts a new Facebook generation. He captures a world where it is not uncommon for people to find their love-matches through social media.
The Jordanian director says that the film marks a departure within his movie-making portfolio. This work is not without a moral message: He bills it a social comedy that is also a cautionary tale to the younger generations and their families.
