Despite the rumors that Egyptian actress, Laila Elwi and her businessman husband had sloped off to Dubai for a quicky divorce, the pair attended one of the oldest awards ceremonies in Cairo this week.
In a show of strength, the couple came to the Catholic Center for their annual awards ceremony for Laila to pick up her gong as best actress for her part in drama, “Napoleon Wal Mahrousa”.
The event is considered one of the most prestigious in the entertainment biz, with a judging panel made up of leading stars and public figures.
According to Middle East news portal, Elaph, organizers toned down the festivities this year due to the ongoing protests across Egypt.
Laila and hubby Mansour al Jamal made their first public appearance since reports of a divorce began, with the sultry star telling reporters that she was as happy as she could be with her partner.
