People who attended the premier screening of the new film “Inta Umri” (You are my Life), starring Muna Shalabi, Nelly Kareem and Hani Salama, were shocked when prominent Egyptian actress Laila Elwi broke down and began crying affected by the events in the film. The film tells a humanistic story of combining cruelty and kindness at the same time.

Laila has expressed her deep appreciation of the film and considered it one of the best ones she has seen in a very long time. she added that she considers the film a strong comeback of powerful and serious films, which Egyptian cinema has been lacking for some time, and made it a point to congratulate all the leading actors for their great work.

Recently, Laila has announced that she will not take part in any television work until her drama “Bint Min Shubra” is screened on Egyptian local and satellite television. Despite the fact that the actress had given her initial acceptance to star in the new drama “Maraya”, she insisted that she cannot start shooting the scenes until “Bint Min Shubra” is aired placing the director and the entire cast in a very tight spot.

The Egyptian Minister of Information Mamdouh Al Biltaji had recently announced that the drama will definitely be banned from screening on Egyptian local and satellite-based television channels as it will negatively affect the religious and social harmony that has existed for many years.

Elwi has expressed her surprise at the decision taken by the Egyptian Minister stressing that it was within her rights, as well as those of the rest of the cast of the drama, to be given a logical explanation for the minister's decision.
