Egyptian star Mahmoud Hmidah will be poised to begin shooting Al Thar (Revenge), directed by Ali Abdel Khaleq, scripted by Jamal Eddin Hussein and costarring Hisham Salim and Hisham Abdel Hamid.
The film depicts the story of a navy officer named Ahmed Shaker, who successfully fires a rocket that sinks the largest Israeli naval vessel, in one of the most exciting episodes in modern warfare.
Hmidah plays the role of an Israeli navy officer, while Salim plays the role of Shaker.
Egyptian Minister of Defense Hussein Tantawi has agreed to provide warships similar in style and size to those involved in the real clash.
The film deals with the war of attrition between Egypt and Israel, according to the Cairo-based magazine Akhbar Al Nujoum.
An open budget had been allocated to the film, and 10 cameras will be used to shoot the battle scenes simultaneously. Most of the scenes will be shot outdoors, on the coast across from the Israeli port of Eilat - Albawaba.com
