Majed Al Masri: does he look like 'Karim'?

Egyptian actor Majed Al Masri cannot see it, but there are suggestion he's looking more like Turkish TV star character 'Karim'. The bemused-to irritated actor hotly denies any such imitation at work.

Al Masri - by name and nationality - is mortified, astonished, and frankly insulted by accusations levelled against him, claiming he is deliberately trying to cultivate the 'Karim' hearthrob look. The accusers say that he changed his look to resemble Turkish actor Engin Akyurek  - known more widely in Arab-circles as 'Karim' from the popular Syrian-dubbed television drama “Fatima”.

During an interview with Sayidaty.net, Majed came out and took the gossip head-on, facing down the the copy-cat charge. He told how a number of internet websites had posted the superficial allegation that he attempted to imitate ‘Karim’ in his new television drama “Ma Sibq Al Israr” (With Prior Insistence), co-starring Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel-Raziq.

Not unfounded entirely, these accusations draw their basis on Majed's onscreen character who has long hair and a light beard similar to that of ‘Karim’s’. Majed stressed that his look on-screen is fitting for the character he plays and neither he nor the makers of the drama had the slightest intention of making him resemble popular TV idol 'Karim'.

Majed, in a final statement to draw the line under the silly affair, makes it clear that he wouldn't know who he was supposed to be imitating anyhow since he does not subscribe to Turkish soap. He says for maximum effect that he is not a fan of Turkish TV and what's more does not watch the dramas to know if his new look resembles Karim's original style or not.

Don't worry, Majed, we're sure no one's paying the slightest bit of attention.
