Tyre’s own daughter Majida Al Roumi opened the city’s summer festival on Thursday in front of a crowd of some 4,000 people. The Roman hippodrome was lit in exquisite colors, adding a charming atmosphere to the concert, according to thisiscyberia.com.
Roumi started by saluting the crowd, expressing her deepest joy for singing in her hometown, and began the concert with some of her Lebanese hits and her father’s much-beloved poem Ottor (Fragrance). The audience’ interaction with Roumi was heart-warming throughout the concert, and brought out the best in the star, who looked ecstatic and sang with an amazing energy.
Later in the night, she started singing her most-loved songs such as the popular Sit Al Dunia (Beirut, Lady of the World) and Tawq Al Yasamin (The Jasmine Necklace), both written by the late Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, Roumi’s personal friend.
The surprise of the night was a new song dedicated to the people of the south called Tourab Al Janoub (The Soil of the South). The patriotic tune celebrates of the heroic resistance of the people in the south – Albawaba.com
