Lebanese singer Marwa is scheduled to stand trial in court after poet Mohammad Madi filed a lawsuit against her accusing her of fraud. Mohammad claimed that he had signed a five-year contract with Marwa giving him the exclusive rights of her work. after recording her album “Umma Na’ema”, Mohammad was shocked when Marwa released the music video for the song “Mashrabshi El Shai”, which was aired exclusively on Rotana music channel, without his prior knowledge.

Mohammad stressed that Marwa had illegally broken conditions in the contract between them adding that she was paid large sums of money for the clip. The poet demanded that Marwa pays him 300 thousand US dollars in compensation for damage caused, in addition to removing all the tapes she released outside their agreement from the market.

On her part, Marwa stressed that Mohammad had sold her the songs of Laila Nathmi, without notifying the latter that her songs were being sold. Marwa added that she was never paid a large sum of money from Rotana for her clip “Mashrabshi El Shai”.

On a different note, Marwa has denied allegations made against her that she is a seductive singer and attempts to be sexy in order to gain popularity. The singer stressed that she is against seductiveness by nature and what she presents simply extenuates her femininity.

Marwa added that wearing revealing cloths or acting in a certain way in a music video are mere guidelines given by the director and they do not necessarily reflect the nature of the singer. She noted that she does not understand why people criticize her in such a way when all she does is act like a woman.
