Usher has been dancin' in the streets of Rabat (literally) and posting images of his visit to Rabat on his instagram page.
The American singer, songwriter, dancer, and Justin Bieber-mentor has been visiting the city accompanied by his fiancee Grace Miguel, ahead of his Mawazine Festival gig on Friday night.
They took in the old Medina, where he danced with a local Gnawa group, the mausoleum of Mohamed V, and the art museum. In a television interview with Le 360, the star waxed lyrical about his love of the local architecture and singled out Moroccan contemporary artist Hassan Hajjaj. "I really love modern art, he said, especially the work of Hassan Hajjaj and the way he represents women, all her colours - [Hajjaj and I] are also friends and I have some of his works."
Usher also posted a photo of him against a beautiful sunset, which he captioned "My prayer to the east. As the sun sets, may the dark ignite the light in you. Rise and shine in the glory upon tomorrow's arrival. Blessings [God is the greatest, God is the greatest] Amen".
Usher first came to Morocco two years ago with his family where he spent the night in the Sahara desert, celebrated New Year’s Eve and visited Marrakech, Fez, he said in a pre-concert press conference.
The nine-day Mawazine Festival has already featured international artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Sting, and African and Middle Eastern artists such as Assala.
