Let's hope Melhem Barakat's family loves his music as much as the rest of the Middle East does, because the Lebanese songster might warm up the vocal chords just for them on New Year's Eve, he jokingly suggested.
A slew of superstar concerts were cancelled at the eleventh hour across the United Arab Emirates, leaving singers Ramy Ayach, Shatha Hassoun, Wafik Habib, George Tahhan, Melhem Barakat, Hisham el-Hajj, Melhem Zain, Nassif Zaitoun, and all of their fans now stuck with the question of what to do the night of December 31st. Somebody call the fun police and get the event organizers arrested for damage of personal music enjoyment, LOL.
When asked the reason behind the sudden cancellation, Melhem alluded that UAE national security had refused to give them visas, which left him startled and confused since he had managed to travel to and perform in the UAE numerous times in the past, reported Sayidaty.net.
We wonder if he'll make his way to Amman, Jordan instead to jam in the stands of Tamer Hosny's or Nancy Ajram's NYE gigs, or perhaps he'll hold down the fort in Beirut where the beats will be bumping to Haifa Wehbe and Assi Helani. Even if the chance to sing was stolen from him, it would be a shame for him to not frolic his way into the New Year, are we right?
