The Bahrain Summer Festival will yet again bring its action-packed family-friendly lineup of amazing shows and events that will entertain and educate audiences from all ages and facilitate cultural exchange and dialogue.

Details about the ever-popular festival, scheduled to run from August 18th till September 9th, were officially announced by the Ministry of Culture in a press conference on July 4th at Bab Al Bahrain. The press conference was presided over by Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture in Bahrain.

At the launch press conference, Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa emphasized the spirit of joy, which the festival embodies.

"The festival will focus on bringing people and nations together to engage and interact as evidences by its multi-cultural lineup of shows and activities."

This year’s fifth edition of Bahrain Summer Festival is part of Manama: Capital of Arab Tourism 2013 leisure tourism season, with shows ranging from local, regional and international music performances, theatrical plays, art exhibitions, and much more.

Among the performers is the Lebanese living legend Magida El-Roumi, who will perform a selection of her most well-known pieces picked from a catalogue of more than four decades of music. Iraqi maqam specialist Fareeda Mohammed Ali, one of the Arab World preeminent female vocalists, is also scheduled to perform a selection of her best-known works.

Completing the musical tour-de-force will be the Arab World’s latest Arab Idol star Mohammed Assaf from Palestine, fresh off his win in the smash-hit talent show, which he won a few weeks ago.

International music admirers will enjoy Reflection of Thais, a fascinating musical showcase from a trio of Thai musicians and vocalists arranged in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy. The trio will play well-known Western classical compositions and Thai music.

For children, the ever-popular Scooby-Doo - reborn as the family-friendly Musical Mysteries – will accompany kids as he and his beloved cast of friends try to solve yet another puzzling case. Everyone’s favorite dinosaur Barney also returns with his friends to share their latest adventure with his fans in a roller-coaster ride of song, dance and fun. German group Sanostra will astonish audiences with their spectacular show FACE IT!, an adrenaline-filled combination of power and grace that blurs between reality and fantasy featuring an amazing collection of talented performers and advanced technology.

Another remarkable show is "Mystic India", an extravaganza Bollywood dance that will take audiences on a journey through time as it transforms the stage into a dazzling vortex of movement, colors, and sound that alternate between past and present.

Anchoring the festival as always will be Nakhool, the festival’s beloved mascot, as he educates and entertains the children at Nakhool City. Joined this year by the newest member of the Bahrain Summer Festival family, Nakhoola, the city will yet again be an active hub of fun and interactive activities which will take children and their parents on an exciting journey of discovery.

Among the numerous activities planned at Nakhool City is a special showcase featuring diverse cultures from around the world, including Turkey, Russia, Australia, and India, as well as many Arab countries such as Jordan, Palestine, and Lebanon.

The venue will also host a number of musicals, dance shows and artistic and creative workshops. Located in the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center, Nakhool City will be open daily for the duration of Bahrain Summer Festival.
