Nabila Obeid breaks birthday bash tradition

Despite the fact that Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid has made it a tradition to hold a grand celebration on her birthday, which was on January 21, this year the actress decided to hold a very small party inviting her very close friends only. The actress revealed that this year she did not feel the urge for holding a huge party, especially with the absence of the most dearest person to her heart, which is her mother, who passed away a few months ago.

 

Nabila has recently returned from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Paris, where she had gone on a vacation with her good friend prominent Algerian singer Warda. The actress is scheduled to begin work on her upcoming film “Ma Feesh Ghair Kida” in addition to her upcoming television drama “Rijal Raya Wa Iskeena” alongside Egyptian actress Nadia Al Jundi.

 

On a different note, the month of February will witness the launch of the first Woman Cinema Festival, to be headed by Nabila, in Egypt under the patronage of his Excellency Minister of Culture Farouq Hunsi and a number of different local organizations that support woman’s issues and activating her role in society.

 

Nabila revealed that this festival is a first of its kind that is fully dedicated to women in the cinema and is a message from the civil society that is concerned with women’s issues.  She added that the festival aims at highlighting the important social role Egyptian cinema has played since it beginnings.

 

Nabila stressed that this festival is an important artistic event that is a cultural bridge, especially since its represents the beginning of a cooperation between the civil society and the makers of the cinema. The films that will be screened are ones that have mainly female casts and that focus on the role women play in society.
