Despite having been released from the Fleury-Merogis prison in Paris earlier this month, Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred couldn't attend the first annual Arab Nation Music Awards in Beirut on Sunday, where he scooped two awards.
Saad is currently under electronic surveillance by the Paris Court of Appeal, which explains why his mother, Nezha Regragui, flew out to Lebanon to accept the award for "Best Song of the Year" and "Best Song of the Maghreb" on his behalf.
The winning smash hit single which gained him the award is entitled "Ghaltana" (You're Mistaken).
His mama also picked up the trophy for the "Most Viewed Video Clip on YouTube" award for his song "Ana Machi Sahel."
Organized by Music or Media Group, the organisers will be choosing a different Arab country to host the event each year.
Which country would you like to see host this artist-tribute event next year?
