Moroccan singer Samira Said is scheduled to return home for two days to host a New Years Eve concert at the Regency hotel in Casablanca. A close contact to the singer told the London based Elaph that Samira wants to celebrate the New Year among her family and people. Samira will return to her home in Cairo-Egypt after her concert, where she has been residing permanently since the early 1980’s.
On a different note, Samira participated in the 40th anniversary celebration for the Moroccan TV station. She attended the event, which took place at the King Mohammad V Theater in Rabat. She handed out prizes for best television programs and in addition, she gave her first composer Abdul Nabi Al Jirari, one of Morocco’s eldest and prominent composers, an award of appreciation. Samira also sang three songs at the to event.
In October several stories circulated about attacks against Said by young Egyptian composer Amr Mustafa, who worked on her latest smash hit "Yom Wara Yom" (Day After Day). The composer accused Samira of not giving him any credit for the hit single which was the least she could have done for the efforts he put in to make the song a huge success around the Arab and Western world. He added that he regrets working with the singer and shall not do so ever again.
Born and raised in Rabat, Morocco, Said began singing at an early age. A loving wife and a wonderful mother; Samira has become a well-known figure in the Arab World. Samira was known for her early appearances on ‘Mawaheb’ (Talents), a TV show that allowed a child to show his/her talents to the world.
