This week the comedy show (CBM) on MBC satellite television channel will host Egyptian comedian actor Ahraf Abdul Baqi to participate in the a number of clips for the show. One of the scheduled themes for the show is a satirical imitation of the Ramadan TV drama series “Al Ama Nour” (Aunt Nour) under the heading of Aunt Nour’s Advice, in which the actors will imitate the lead actress in the drama Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid.

Another part of the show will be a satirical imitation of Tunisian singer Saber Riba’ee’s song “Barsha Barsha” (More and More) and will be sung by one of the cast but with a major twist in the wording of the song, reported the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat. (Aunt Nour has been attacked with numerous criticism in Egypt accusing it of being pro-American. The show has been referred to as supporting the western code of ethics and ways of life in a time when the region is in a state of mixed emotions due to the current US-invasion of Iraq and the US ongoing support to Israel.

The main reason behind the criticism is the fact that the director of the drama portrays the American ways of life as the solution to the problems that occur in Egyptian society through the main character in the serried "Aunt Nour" (played by Nabila). Nabila in the series returns to Egypt with a doctorate in Behavioral therapy from the US, living there for over 25 years, and takes on the responsibility of treating young teenagers who are either addicted to drugs or face behavioral problems.

One of the critics stresses that despite the fact that the series is witnessing an enormous number of viewers due to the strategic timing the show is aired, many people make fun of the way the characters, especially the main one, use the English language and pretend to be native speakers. In addition to the fact that the problems raised in the series are too general and do not target the core of problems faced by most youths.

Obeid had hired private security guards to protect the advertising posters she has throughout the streets of Egypt for the Ramadan TV drama she stars in “Aunt Nour”. Nabila has taken such drastic measures after she realized that perpetrators were stealing the posters and were ruining them. The guards walked through the streets where the posters are hung and will report any stolen posters or any messed with ones. -Al Bawaba.com
