The case of Egyptian businessman Ehab Talaat, husband of Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi is witnessing several contradicting situations.
Despite the release of Ehab’s release from prison after he paid the debt he owed to the Egyptian Media Production Company, the criminal court in Cairo has postponed the hearing for removing all restrictions off his and his wife’s assets, after they have been confiscated.
According to the London based Elaph, this matter has caused matters to become more complicated for the couples who are eager to get passed this crises and move on with their lives.
Despite all that has been going on, Shireen had secretly flew off to Germany for a period of three days and had met up with her husband, who had been there for ten days. Shireen stressed that her husband did not flee the country and in fact had gone to Germany legally after police officials gave them permission to travel.
The singer added that her husband was in Germany to receive medical treatment for his foot, and may extend his stay after the recent court decision to postpone the trial of removing all restrictions on their assets.
A separate court had released a verdict against Ehab during his stay sentencing him to a six-year prison term for writing more bad checks to the Al Ahram Cooperation, but his defense lawyers had appealed the verdict.
Until this moment, Shireen is unable to resume her entertainment activities, a matter that is tied her husband’s stability, which has become a dream to her.
Ehab was released from prison after paying a debt of 26 million Egyptian Pounds he owed to the government. A check of 15 million EGP was made by Egyptian tycoon Najib Sweiris as an assistance to Ehab.
Shireen had accompanied her husband every step of the way while he was released. The release of Tala’at does not indicate that the case against him is closed, for he still faces other charges for writing checks without having a balance.
Tala’at has been under investigation by Egyptian authorities, and both he and his wife were forbidden to leave Egypt, and authorities seized the couple’s assets.
Her husband owns one of the largest advertising agencies in Egypt and is the producer of the popular program “Al Bait Baitak” (Our Home is Your Home). The Egyptian television network had filed charges against him.
