Sofinar brought her belly dancing self from Armenia to Egypt to provide entertainment for the region, but it hasn't been all fun and games for the performer also known as Safinaz. She's often in some kind of trouble, and has even found herself behind bars from time to time.
Her most recent incident that caused a raucous was being sued for disgracing the Egyptian flag. She shimmied around in a gown that represented the country's flag colors and symbol, and the five-star Nabila hotel that hosted her was not happy with her choice of wardrobe. The event took place last year, but it wasn't until earlier this week that she was arrested for it. She was soon released on bail, and is ready to rail on the hotel owners with her own set of accusations, like them wanting her to have sex with clients.
In an interview Wednesday night with Al Ebrashy on Dream TV, Safinaz spilled this, "The hotel has a lot of law violations. I saw everything with my own eyes. They sell drugs and hookers to clients, they tried everything with me to accept that, but I refused. The owner of the hotel said that he has connections, and he will make sure that I am out of Egypt if I don’t accept their request."
Safinaz added, “I wore the niqab when police arrested me because I was too tired, and I didn’t want anyone one to see me in such a condition."
Despite the fact that she shows off a lot of flesh during her dance routines, she added that wearing niqab is not strange for her. She used to work in the Gulf, and thus owns several.
Her fans were touched by her heart-rendering story, and shared words of encouragement on her social media sites after the interview aired on television.
