The lovely yet confused, Sulafa Mimar, has been struggling to get to grips with the reality of war in her own country for many months but this latest disappointment might just bring home to her how bad the situation really is.
The actress has been nominated for the prestigious Talky Jordan Awards in Amman but cannot make it because of the Syrian chaos. Sulafa had to turn down the offer to come, not only because of practical reasons but also as, "a sign of respect" for the victims of the war.
The actress has previously given the media some rather mixed messages on where her politics stand but in her most recent statement she told reporters she longed for the Syria of old. Perhaps she is just sick of the bloodshed and would rather leave politics to one side?
The Syrian beauty is in good company at the awards: she is nominated alongside Saba Mubarak, Ghada Abdel Raziq and Layla Elwi in the category of "Best Actress 2012" and with Cyrine Abdel Nour and Shujoon al Hajiri in the category of "Best Arab Actress" in the popular vote.
