ALBAWABA- Nintendo announced on Aug. 21, 2023, that the iconic and legendary Charles Martinet, the voice behind Super Mario and Luigi is stepping down from the role. Nintendo said on X (formerly known as Twitter) that it was an honor working with Charles.
Charles has been officially announced as Mario's new ambassador, and he seemed enthusiastic about the position based on a post he made on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account saying “My new Adventure begins! You are all Numba One in my heart!”

Charles Andre Martinet is an American actor born on Sept. 17, 1955. Although Martinet was known for his role as Mario's voice actor from 1991 till 2023, he also voiced many other video game characters including, Paarthurnax in Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Magenta in Toei Animation's Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
A fun fact about Martinet is that he also voiced Mario's brother Luigi and their nemeses Wario and Waluigi. According to New York Post, he appeared in a whopping 150 Nintendo titles!
Although he is American, Charles Martinet spent most of his youth in Europe leading to fluency in French, Spanish, and some Italian.

Nintendo Confirmed to GameXplain that Charles Martinet will not be voicing Mario in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Although he appeared as a cameo in the new Super Mario Bros movie, Charles was not cast as Mario's voice actor and was replaced by Chris Pratt with Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser.
