While Miss Lebanon and Miss Israel were busy photobombing the “Universe” this week, a second batch of Arab “Misses” competed for the Miss Arab 2015 title in Cairo on Sunday.

Seventeen feisty ladies represented the Middle East in last night’s competition, but it was Miss Morocco, Salma Zakmout, who held her head up high, with the sparkling crown on top, as winner of the glamorous pageant.

Meanwhile, Miss Tunisia came in second place as First Runner-up, beating Miss Egypt, Syria and Yemen in the finals.

Another pair of heels clicking on Miss Arab’s catwalk were those of Miss Jordan, Sireen Barakat. You may vividly remember 2014’s Miss Jordan, Zeina al Alami, who was the victim of unfair public humiliation from sarcastic social media users across the globe, who described the proud beauty queen as “ugly with man-like features."

In response to Alami being crowned as Jordan’s most beautiful woman last year, one Tweep wrote, “@GigiMezyed My friends are actually asking me if Jordanian girls are that ugly."

However, this time around, the bar was raised with Sireen’s participation in the competition. The 18-year-old’s long, shiny black hair, glowing skin, big green eyes, sweet smile and adorable, yet ambitious personality gained her more lovers than haters on the social media sphere!

At least for now, no one can accuse Jordan of not having any pretty fish in their (Red) sea!
