Irish rock band U2 has postponed Saturday's planned Paris concert, which was to be broadcast live on HBO, in the wake of Friday evening's horrific terror attacks on the French city.
More than 100 people were killed in shootings and explosions at several locations, including a concert hall where the American band Eagles of Death Metal was performing. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the carnage.
U2 said it was postponing its weekend concert "as a result of the ongoing state of emergency across France," but the musicians emphasized they are "resolved to go ahead with this show at an appropriate time."
"We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all the victims and their families across the city tonight. We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans," the band said in a statement on its website late Friday. "And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe."
