Here's something you didn't know about late iconic actor Ahmed Zaki: He tried committing suicide over his wife, actress Hala Fouad.
Zaki, who passed away in 2005, felt "responsible" for Hala's death and tried throwing himself off of a balcony as punishment, according to Egyptian beauty expert Mohammed Eshoub.
In an interview with the beauty Guru on the TV talk show "Mamnoou' Men Al Ard," Mohammed said that "some time after Hala gave birth to their son, she called Ahmed to inform him that she would be going to the hospital for some check ups, and asked him to pray for her.
"Hala's health quickly deteriorated after that and she passed away on May 10, 1993."
News of her death was delivered to Mohammed by Hala's brother, director Hisham Fouad. That's when Mohammed made his way to the set where Ahmed was filming a movie to deliver the news in person.
However, actress Laila Saboonji, who was on the set at the time, told Ahmed the bad news before Mohammed could.
The shock was overwhelming, and that's when "Ahmed went to one of the building's balconies and tried to jump, before returning back inside, hysterically crying and blaming himself for Hala's death."
RIP, Ahmed and Hala.
