Dubai: On March 7 2013, Wolfgang is set to perform live at the Emirates Golf Club for a one-night show, the first stop in their Middle East tour. This is the third time the iconic rock band is performing in Dubai, but their forthcoming concert will also be their first solo show. They spoke to tabloid! about what’s in store for their fans.
Q: After your concert in Dubai last November, what made you decide to come back to the UAE again for a solo concert?
A: Our last two shows in Dubai (one was in 2010, the other last year) were just the appetizers for the upcoming show on March 7 — which will be Wolfgang’s first solo concert in this part of the world. Consider this the main course!
Q: What do you consider to be the most memorable international gig you have done so far?
A: Too many to count — the next one is always the most exciting.
Q: Your Filipino fans, especially here in the UAE, have consistently followed you and your music. To what do you attribute this loyalty?
A: The WolfPack [referring to their fans] is the major reason why we are still around. And there are legions of them in the Middle East! Here’s to more red-blooded, head-banging Pinoys!
Q: How was your onstage experience during your concert in November?
A: The intensity was amazing. There is definitely a large number of Filipinos here who know what rock really is. It was a lot of fun for us and the fans, but again, all too short. That is one of the reasons we are in Dubai again.
Q: Do you have a favourite among all the songs you’ve released?
A: We’re working on the second part of the Ang Bagong Dugo sa Lumang Ugat album. It’s a trilogy that tells the story of a Filipino warlord family. It’s getting pretty intense, and right now, these new songs are our favourite.
Q: What’s in store for Wolfgang this year? What can your fans look forward to?
A: We have quite a few international tours lined up, with Qatar among the others — plus, completing the second and the last of the Ang Bagong Dugo sa Lumang Ugat trilogy. We’re going to spend 2013 celebrating our 20th year, so watch out for that. Expect the unexpected.
Q: Any message to your UAE fans who’re eagerly waiting for your concert on March 7?
A: We can’t wait to be there again, to rock with our Filipino fans in the UAE and to have a lot of fun during the show. So, spread the word, Desert Wolves!!
Q: Your fans are eager to get hold of Wolfgang merchandise. Will they be able to buy any at the concert?
A: Yes. Albums, guitar picks — and if the t-shirt elves deliver on time, gear too!
