ALBAWABA - The unexpected death of One Direction member Liam Payne has devastated Zayn Malik.
Tragically, news spread online Wednesday evening that 31-year-old Liam had died following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Someone close to the 31-year-old Pillowtalk artist's ex-groupmate Zayn has now spoken out about his reaction to the terrible news.
They claim that Zayn received the information in the early hours of this morning and has been distraught ever since.
His parents have reached out to Liam's family to express their support and sorrow; he is in disbelief.
Friends and family of Zayn have gathered around him since they do not want him to be alone right now.
They claimed that "issues they had with one another in the past" were the reason Zayn and Liam hadn't communicated in a while.
"They held each other in high regard when apart," the source said. Nobody hated the other, but they just couldn't agree on anything.
However, a sense of exploitation by the music industry affected them both.
The DailyMail.com has requested a statement from Zayn.
Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall joined Zayn and Liam as members of the band One Direction after their 2010 individual X Factor auditions.
Following the release of five critically acclaimed albums, the band went on to achieve unprecedented levels of success, topping the charts, shattering records, and performing on sold-out tours throughout the globe.
When questioned about his connection with his former bandmates in 2016, Zayn famously said that he was "the closest with Liam," referring to his disbandment from the band in 2015.
I remained perhaps Liam's closest confidante. We have phone conversations. He was genuinely complimentary about my single status. That was great. He responded to a question about the recipient's Brit Award in an interview at the time.
