ALBAWABA - The oil market finds no reprieve as the Iran war continues to stifle supply and drive up prices through shortages and insurance premiums.
Trump, who ran on a campaign avoiding lengthy and expensive wars has been in one for the past five months and has shown no signs of stopping, on Friday he said that he’s been using the US military “a little bit more than I wanted to,”
Despite this, no thoughts of compromise or de-escalation seem to have entered his mind – Trump is doubling down on the war instead, saying “pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.
“I’ll never apologize,” he says, “I did the right thing.”
In that same speech, Trump downplayed the psychological effect of the war on US navy sailors, especially those on the USS Abraham Lincoln, after reports came in of sailors attempting to jump overboard the ship as a means to end their 240+ days of deployment.
Instead of offering some solace to the families of the soldiers on board the ship, he refuted any claims of their worries and concerns about mental health and supply issues, going so far as to say that the 240 days, which is a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea is “not nearly enough”.
Democratic representative Jason Crow took to social media to criticize Trump’s comments, saying on X that “President Trump does not care about our servicemembers or their families.”
The Navy claims it has “not observed an increase in suicidal ideations or attempts aboard the ship,” though officials didn’t provide data backing the claim, citing operational security and privacy concerns.
