For potential political candidates, a ringing endorsement from a well-loved celebrity can make the difference between a seat in parliament or a being out on the street.
No-one, apparently, knows that better than Radi El-Magableh. He’s running for a seat in Jordan’s national elections, scheduled for Monday, and in his search for allies he has no worries about heading right to the top.
In a video today, the politician describes being visited in a dream by a mysterious white figure, who tells him he’ll win the elections. The crowds El-Magableh has been sent, the angelic presence allegedly explains, have been sent by God.
“I was fully aware when someone in a white dress approached me,” El-Magableh says, in a video apparently recorded on a phone and in which he’s shown sitting on a couch. “Then he told me that I am going to win these elections, and there is no doubt in that, and that these crowds that I had been receiving are sent by God.”
Unsurprisingly, Twitter was left somewhat baffled by the jaw-dropping statement.

Your blessings Radi El-Magableh, your blessings
We felt bad when Al-Jazeera broadcast a report about Jordanian Elections. But we hurt ourselves before anyone else. Check this candidate out.
No ethereal apparitions were available to comment on the veracity of El-Magableh’s claim.
