Injazat unveils relationship radial model for addressing information risks at ICT for Government Forum

Injazat Data Systems presented a strategic approach to information security (IS) management based on a ‘relationship radial’ model during the ICT for Government Forum which took place recently at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. Held under the patronage of H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, the Forum gathered senior information and communications technology (ICT) executives in the government sector for an exclusive one-day event to discuss key issues faced by government and how technology can address them.
Injazat, a Strategic Partner of the Forum, outlined and explained the policies, procedures and awareness as well as environmental and physical security elements of information security. It presented a relationship radial model that factors in all these components to effectively manage all types of IS threats.
Injazat Head of Information Security Kamran Ahsan also proposed five ‘preferred actions’ based on information breach statistics of 2010 for government agencies to follow so as to protect their information assets, namely, monitor and audit privileged user activities; prevent data leaks and filter outbound traffic; impart security education to all stakeholders; ensure appropriate controls are deployed and managed; and monitor and correlate security events.
The applicability of Injazat’s Information Systems Risk Management (ISRM) Framework practiced at the company’s Tier IV data centre was also demonstrated. The framework holistically manages information security risks to ensure that information security requirements are addressed for both IT and non-IT environments. Injazat showed how control standards governing ISO 27001, the international Information Security Management System standard, can be managed as part of Injazat’s ISRM to maintain the information security of various categories of Data Center site infrastructure Tier standard: Operational Sustainability as defined by the Uptime Institute, the global data center authority.
“During our presentation we had the opportunity to offer our unique ISRM approach to give an idea of how government agencies can strategize, adopt and enforce the preferred actions we outlined into their respective business environments. Given the critical nature of their work, government organizations need to adopt a more strategic view of IS management that counters threats and vulnerabilities with a level of protection that thoroughly considers costs versus risks,” said Ibrahim Mohamad Lari, Injazat Data Systems.
Injazat is the owner and operator of the first design-certified Tier IV data center in the Middle East. It has been involved in various multi-million dollar IT projects for the Abu Dhabi Government over the past 5 years.
